GRADE II LISTED BUILDING

March 2020.

This project on a beautiful Grade II listed building was to repurpose a stone-built store into a snug/living room.

This was a project we bid for at the tender stage, but the client decided to engage another contractor and we were unsuccessful the first-time round. However, once the original contractor was unable to deliver the project, we were called in to rectify and finish the project.

The previous contractor had endeavoured to complete the groundwork stage, but this was not completed to an acceptable standard. So this project became slightly more complicated as we had to pick up from where the previous contractor had stopped and undertake corrective elements, then we could start progressing with the original scope of work. The age and condition of the existing residential building meant that we had to work closely with Heritage England to ensure that the correct materials and building methods were used in keeping with the original building.

Shortly after commencing the project, we were forced to close the site due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which put the project on hold for a number of weeks. We were able to resume and worked hard to complete the project while working under the Government’s Covid guidelines.

We were able to protect the client from the impacts on supply chain due to the pandemic and BREXIT, keeping additional costs to a minimum, and deliver the project to the extreme satisfaction of the client. All this while working within the material and craftsmanship requirements of Heritage England.

We were delighted to get this project completed to such a high standard considering the circumstances through which we had to work. We are all very proud of this project.” Scott, Estimator/Contract Manager
